Recipe for a Style Guide

Some may not be aware that the cultural variety of the regions in Italy is greatly manifested in Italian cuisine, apart from its Italian history as influenced by the Roman, Greek, Arab, and Norman civilizations. For this reason, Italian recipes are said to be in variety, too, like the mixed regions that comprise the country.

Yet how well do we really know the variety of Italian recipes? Italian cuisine is diverse in the sense that there are different foods from the northern parts and southern parts of Italy. Ingredients, food preparation and cooking vary as well from region to region.

Here’s a bit of a comparison between the cuisine of the two parts of Italy.

Northern Italian cuisine has the following qualities in food preparation and cooking:

-They prefer unsalted butter instead of olive oil, and make use of cream, polenta, risotto, and Mascarpone cheese.
-They are into hearty soups during winter.
-They have veal, beef, and pork as preferred meat choices, because of a good cattle breed in their region, fit for milk and meat production.
-They use less tomato and prefer fresh egg pasta.
-Cooking style is from frying and boiling through stewing and slow braising.
-Their cooks prefer to use broth or wine as liquid base, while adding herbs for good flavor.
-Apart from ducks and other bird species, they also have a wide variety of fish, shells, and other sea foods, ranging from eels, to clams and mussels, and to freshwater fishes

On the other hand, Southern Italian cuisine also has the following qualities in food preparation and cooking:

-They make use of larger amounts of tomatoes, as opposed to the Northern cuisine, which makes use of red as their preferred sauce, and eggplants. Tomatoes and eggplants are considered summer vegetables. Broccoli and cauliflower are winter vegetables.
-They prefer to use dried pasta rather than the egg pasta of the North.
-Lamb and kid are necessary choices in their daily diet, as they are known for shepherding. Nevertheless, cattle and fish are still part of their dishes. In other areas, fish is even the dominating choice.
-They also have excellent cheeses, say, Mozarella cheese for example. Provolone and caciocavallo appear to be firm.
-Lastly, desserts from this region are said to be more sumptuous than desserts coming from the North.

Its’ not merely the recipes in Italy that give everyone an enticing treat, even the language is lovely to hear. So if you’re not familiar with the names of Italian recipes, read a few guides below to give you a head start:

-Antipasto refers to the cold and hot appetizers.
-Primo, or The First Course, consists of hot dishes like risotto and pasta.
-Secondo, or The Second Course, consists of the main dish, normally fish or meat. Beef only became popular after World War II; veal is the commonly used meat.
-Contorno, or The Side Dish, is usually vegetables or salads.
-Dolce is by far the most familiar, which means Dessert.

The unique Italian recipes are continuously being imitated worldwide, but in whatever ways other countries do it, of course, the best Italian cuisine remains to be where the real heart is.

Want to start a publishing revolution?

Today, anyone can be an information product publisher. You don’t need a printing press. You don’t even need paper and ink. The Internet has brought about the biggest revolution in communications technology since the invention of moveable type, 500 years ago.

That’s right. In 1440, Johannes Gutenberg invented the modern printing press. It launched a new era of publishing in the Western World. It also kicked off a long chain of events that most people don’t think about much.

When Gutenberg invented his version of the printing press, the vast majority of people living then were illiterate. Only the aristocracy and the very wealthy could afford books, so the masses never learned how to read or write.

Even as recently as the 19th century, 30% to 40% of the people that were getting married had to sign their marriage documents by just putting their mark. It was often just a big “X” used as their signatures, because they couldn't actually spell their own names.

But you can still see how fast things were changing. From the 1400’s to the 1800’s, there was a significant jump in literacy. From a minority, now 60%-70% of the people had learned to read and write, and the printing press was directly responsible for that. It made possible the mass distribution of knowledge and books.

Today, literacy rates in the most developed nations are approaching 100%. We want everyone in the world to be literate. We want to make that happen, because as people become literate, they also become educated.

Until the end of the 20th century, most books were published by large organizations. They controlled the flow of knowledge and education, because they controlled the printing presses and publishing required many resources.

Making books was such a complex process that many printers would routinely turn away orders of less than 10,000 copies. So it wasn’t really possible for an individual to publish a book or anything in significant quantities. The process made it just too expensive for all but big companies or governments.

But now, the paradigm is shifting once again, as the age of real desktop publishing has dawned. For the first time in history, the power of publishing has been passed to the individual via the Internet. Not only that, but you can also conduct your information product publishing business for almost no money at all.

You can go online right now and get a free g-mail account. You can write an entire book inside the area called Google Docs. Then, just download a primo PDF, turn that into a free PDF, and—POOF!—you’ve got a book.

How much would that all cost you? Not a penny. And if you don’t have a computer and an Internet connection, you can go down to your nearest public library and use theirs. There’s no charge at all.

Once you’ve got a book, you want to sell it, of course. You can use free web-site hosting and other tools to get your book out to the public through Internet marketing. So you can actually start an online business with no money at all and be a publisher.

By now you can see that, today, anyone really can be a publisher. Anyone can make money online. So what are you waiting for? Get started on your information marketing business today.

Balance Your Life Today - 3 Ways to Make Your Life Work!

"Be aware of wonder. Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some." - Robert Fulghum, American author, Unitarian Universalist minister

When life seems out of control and there are endless demands tugging at you from all directions, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, fatigued and just plain stressed!

Balancing your life does not require massive changes. You don't have to abandon your family, leave your employer and escape to a mountain top retreat in order to experience peace and happiness. True balance is starts WITHIN YOU first and foremost regardless of whatever else is happening in your life.

Below you'll find three simple ways to begin building a greater sense of inner peace and harmony:

1) Quiet time.

When we're extremely busy, we tend to sacrifice our personal time. Instead we devote all of our energy and attention to caring for others, multi-tasking, meeting responsibilities and "being productive." This depletes our energy and we begin to feel more and more burdened by our responsibilities.

To live a more balanced life, quiet time to yourself is crucial. You may believe that you don't have any time available for yourself, but something amazing happens when you consistently find the time; you find yourself feeling happier and more energetic. Your focus improves, which means you still get plenty done! Just a few minutes spent sitting quietly in meditation or reading a book can do wonders in transforming stress into peace and happiness.

2) Self-care.

Beyond making time for things you enjoy, there are other ways to nurture and love yourself on a daily basis. Getting a full 8 hours of sleep (or as much as you personally need) is a great start, as well as eating nutritious food, exercising daily and speaking kindly to yourself.

Have you ever noticed that when you're really tired or stressed, even the smallest problem can seem like a nightmare? Conversely, when you're feeling well-rested and centered, you're much better able to handle the inevitable upsets. Giving yourself proper care is one sure way to consistently replenish your energy, inner peace and joy. This will ensure that you'll have the strength to handle whatever comes your way.

3) Flexibility.

Did you know that one of the biggest causes of stress is rigid expectations? We all do it from time to time; get a mental picture of how our lives "should be" and get really annoyed when our outer circumstances don't cooperate! One of the biggest gifts you can give yourself is a flexible state of mind. Learn how to detach from unrealistic expectations and go with the flow.

When you have a flexible mind-set, you're able to deal with crises and problems much more easily because you're not working against a preconceived notion of how things "should be". You're able to tap into your creative problem solving skills and move through challenges without all the drama and frustration. Be like the willow tree that bends with the breeze and you're much less likely to break!

These inner changes can make a dramatic difference in your state of well-being, but you may also want to examine your outer life circumstances and see if there are other small changes you can make to help support your inner work.

For example, you might choose to let go of certain obligations that are no longer meaningful or enjoyable to you. Just because you agreed to host weekly meetings for a support group three years ago doesn't mean you have to keep doing it forever - especially if it's become a drain on your time and energy!

Be willing to let go of activities that no longer complement the lifestyle you desire, and you'll create a space for greater fulfillment, joy and peace.

The Florida Keys is regarded one of the planets most beautiful chains of islands linked to core Florida by the extension of American Highway One that runs about 113 miles from Key West to Miami, the southernmost spot of the continental USA.

The move south over the sea and numerous islands of the Keys is the most spectacular in the country, which comprise the trip of the 7-mile long Marathon Bridge. The Florida Keys tempts millions of travelers every year and includes some of the most wonderful fauna and flora in the USA. Boasting this gorgeous scenery, year-round sunshine, and natural light, it is simple to watch why this sub-tropical Eden has been the setting for numerous film blockbusters, comprising such epics as 2 Fast 2 Furious, True Lies, Speed 2: Cruise Control plus the James Bond classic Licence to Kill.

In fact, American Highway One characterized heavily in the blockbuster ‘True Lies’ starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. In one unforgettable scene, comprising a limousine and assorted attack cars and aircraft, ‘Arnie’ and his team fight it out with wicked terrorists approximately blowing the Marathon Bridge. The blockbuster Speed 2: Cruise Control that though convicted as a dangerous flop made about $160million also features wide damage to an imaginary Florida Keys label at the film’s climax as out of control liner runs aground.

When it comes to enjoying nature, sun, beaches, and sea, the Florida Keys tours are rich in adventures for all the family. The Chamber of Commerce corresponding to Key Largo, Islamorada, Marathon, Big Pine Key, and Key West, is a good starting point to plan your visit to the so-called Florida Paradise. Most of the Florida Keys Visitor Centers are located at the various Chambers of Commerce; visit them to find brochures, maps, Florida Keys tours, and other useful information, including "fun packs" offered by some of the Keys authorities. Of course, there are as many Floridian tour operators that will lead you through the natural beauties of the Florida Keys as there are places to find resources. Being an internationally renowned destination, your local travel agent can provide you with all the printed information of tours available, maps, and directions to get there. By air, land, or sea, you can begin a tour starting at Key Largo and ending in Key West, instead of just visiting one of the Keys.

How to Catch the Writing Bug

The importance of unique content is talked about all the time. But is it really THAT important? And if we take that thinking further should you avoid mass distribution of your next article?

Unless you've been living under a shell or are only new to the internet you'll have heard about the problems of unique content on the internet.

If you haven't here's a quick catch up.

Once upon a time you used to be able to send your article to every corner of the internet and the search engines would spider it and allow you a link back to your site. For example if you send it to 100 different locations eventually, over time, the search engines would register it and give you 100 back links to your site.

But then the problem started, if your average Joe/Josephine Soap typed in "Dog Biscuits" into "Google" and your article was written on dog biscuits, there was the chance that your article would come up again and again in the search results. (While it may be a good article nobody wants to read your article over and over again.)

So, Google came up with the idea to clamp down on duplicate copies of content and only give you credit for one or maybe two times that it came up.

And so the problem with duplicate content came up and why everybody should be using unique content.

So this brings us back to the question, should you pay or use software to mass distribute your article anymore? Is it a waste of time and money?

I don't believe so, and for these 3 reasons.

• Are you really writing articles for back links or for free traffic?

As we now know you mightn't get as many back links as you used to but if you're looking for free traffic to your website writing article is still the best way. Your article on all of those other sites might not show up in the search engines but you still have a working link that's leading traffic back to your site. Plus all the ezine authors that use your article and send traffic to you.

• The experts are still doing it.

I run an article directory myself and I still see articles coming in from mass distribution sites with some of the "guru's" names attached to them. If the experts are still doing it there must still be a good reason for it.

• Duplicate content doesn't see to matter with the big stories online.

If we look at the tragedy of the earthquake in China or the latest dress that J-Lo bought you can find them coming up again and again on numerous sites. Why hasn't "Google" clamped down on this? Could it have something to do with the content? Personally I think if your content is good and worthwhile it's going to be used a lot on the net and gain you a lot of back links.

Finally

Yes, the problem of duplicate content is here for good and for good reason it's not because of nasty ole Google spoiling our party but to give the average surfer the best choice of information.

But, do I think we should all start panicking and running around like "chicken little" screaming the skies falling down.

Nope! But there are going to be people that play it all up and say we're going to need to spend money on this software or that tool to get the best results, but who are they really serving "you" or "themselves."

Remember the "Millennium Bug" where all the planes were going to drop out of the sky at a sec past midnight 1999? Look what happened there and how much was made by those people scaring us.

Will I be mass submitting this article? What do you think?

A literary agent represents writers as well as their written works to publishers and film producers and assists in the sale along with contract discussions. Literary agents frequently act for novelists, scriptwriters as well as big-name non-fiction authors. They are paid a defined percentage (ten to twenty percent; fifteen percent is typical) of the net profits they bargain for their clientele.

Authors oftentimes take on agents for a few reasons: a number of widely known, formidable, and well-paying publishing houses do not accept unagented submissions. A experienced agent knows the market, and can be a fountain of valuable profession suggestions and instruction. Being a publishable writer doesn't routinely make you an technical adviser on current publishing contracts and workings, especially where television, film, or foreign rights are concerned. Several novelists prefer to have an agent respond to such matters. The reasons are varied. Some writers don't want to lose focus with financial matters.

Literary agencies may range in size from a single agent who represents perhaps many authors, to a massive firm with senior partners, sub-agents along with clientele numbering in the hundreds. Most agencies will specialize in certain genres like new age books, horror novels or business books. Almost no agents will represent short stories or poetry.

Any individual can represent himself/herself an agent in the book world, and can only legally take up to 20% of the customer's fee (15% is the standard).

Legitimate agents and agencies in the publishing world are not required to be members of the Association of Authors' Representatives (AAR), but most are. Outstanding professional agents almost always learn their trade while working for another agent, nonetheless some cross over to agenting subsequent to working as editors. It normally takes a long time for entry-level employees to develop into sub-agents and buy their own collection of wealth producing authors. They may in due course decide to strike out on their own and form a new agency, or they may continue with their old agency in hope of rising to the top.

Legitimate agents do not bill reading fees, demand retainers, bill authors for the price of submissions or other operating charges, or otherwise collect payment from any source other than the sales they make on their clients' benefit. They also will not place their clients' manuscript with a vanity press or subsidy press. Both these practices may indicate that the author is dealing with a scam agent. An extra deceptive practice consists of referring the writer to a so-called "professional editor" or "book doctor" who is in alliance with the agent. The subsequent edit may or may not be suitable, or of professional quality, and is nearly always expensive.

A client typically establishes relationships with an agent through querying, although the two may meet at a writer's conference, through a competition, or in other ways. A query is an unsolicited proposal for representation. Various agents request different elements in a query packet. It typically begins with a query letter that explains the purpose of the product along with any writing qualifications of the author.

If an agent likes a work, they will request a partial, which is typically a few chapters of your work. Frequently, contracts between agents and clients are simply verbal; although, an increasing percentage of agents are turning to written contracts to make the deal explicit. Usually, if you get a rejection letter it will be a form letter.

Going Back In Time With Fountain Pens?

Years ago, fountain pens were the only type of pen that could be used for writing. If you have ever read anything that was hand written a hundred years ago, you will notice the fine script writing. This is partly due to the fact that people 100 years ago did not have ball point pens but used fountain pens as writing instruments. If you thought that fountain pens were a thing of the past, think again.

Straddling The Old & The New With Lanier Fountain Pens

Lanier Pens, a quality handcrafted pen company, makes a large assortment of fountain pens that can be given as fine gifts for those with discerning taste in writing instruments. Fountain pens can be used for every day use or for special correspondence. However, the Lanier fountain pens are not like those that were used by your great- great-grandparents or even your grandparents. The new fountain pens that are made by Lanier pens have exotic hardwood casings, iridium-tipped German fountain pen nib and a sealed ink cartridge. No more ink blots on paper or having to use an ink well. You can get the quality smooth writing of a fountain pen without the messy ink spills.

Hand-Crafted Fountain Pens

If you are looking for a perfect corporate gift or even a college graduation gift, you should consider purchasing a hand-crafted fountain pen from Lanier Pens. There are several different types of fountain pens made by Lanier and all come with replaceable ink cartridges. These hand crafted wooden fountain pens also come in a variety of different exotic and burl woods. They are precision made, highly polished writing instruments that are sleek and smooth and a pleasure to write with. The writing style that you can effect when using a fountain pen resembles fine script and will impress anyone to whom you write a handwritten note.

From the elegant cigar fountain pens to the more sleek styled classic fountain pens, giving a gift like a Lanier pen is something that will truly stand out. In addition to the high quality fountain pens offered by this company, there are also pencils available as well as gift sets. You can purchase a fine gift set in an engraved box or just have the wooden pen engraved.

There is a choice of either blue or black ink cartridges for the handcrafted fountain pens made by Lanier. All of the woods used in the pen body are made from exotic woods such as cocobolo, box elder and a variety of burls, to name a few. The designs are one of a kind and truly exquisite.

Lanier Fountain Pens For Every Occasion

Whether you are choosing a corporate gift, graduation gift or even a gift for wedding party members, you should consider purchasing one of the many different styles of fountain pens made by Lanier Pens. Once a person gets used to using a fountain pen, it is difficult to go back to using an ordinary ball point pen. When looking at the vast selection offered by Lanier pens, you may decide to even purchase one of these beauties for yourself. If you do, be forewarned that there is no going back to cheap pens once you have written with a high quality writing instrument made by Lanier pens.

If you think that a high quality fountain pen that is handcrafted by a quality company like Lanier Pens is way out of your price range, think again. Fountain pens made by Lanier start at only $60. When you consider the fact that the pen is something that will last a lifetime and can be personally engraved, you realize that this is quite a bargain.
